October 2023

Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine at Midwestern University – At its October 2023 meeting, the CPME voted to change the accreditation status of the Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine at Midwestern University to accreditation with monitoring and cite an area of noncompliance concerning Standard 6B, Maximum Enrollment. 

Samuel Merritt University College of Podiatric Medicine – At its October 2023 meeting, the CPME voted to change the accreditation status of the Samuel Merritt University College of Podiatric Medicine to accreditation with monitoring as the college remains in noncompliance with Standard 1B, Strategic Planning; Standard 5B, Faculty Size; and Standard 5D, Faculty Policies.

Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine – At its October 2023 meeting, the CPME voted to change the accreditation status of the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine to accreditation with monitoring and determined that the college remains in noncompliance with Standard 1 Mission and Planning, Requirement D Ongoing Evaluation Process and Standard 4 Curriculum, Requirement E Clinical Sciences; and Standard 6 Students Requirement E Services.


Accreditation with
Monitoring is a new accreditation category that is granted if a college is cited with one or more areas of noncompliance with the CPME standards and requirements. Colleges with this designation are still accredited by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education.

April 2023

Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery – At its April 2023 meeting, the Council elected, based on an on-site evaluation, to extend accreditation through April 2031.

Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine - At its April 2023 meeting, the Council elected, based on an on-site evaluation, to extend accreditation through April 2029. Two areas of noncompliance were identified during the site visit: Standard 1 Mission and Planning, Requirement D Ongoing Evaluation Process/Standard 4 Curriculum, Requirement E Clinical Sciences and Standard 6 Students Requirement E Services.

October 2022

California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University – At its October 2022 meeting, the Council elected, based on an on-site evaluation, to extend accreditation through October 2027. Four new areas of noncompliance were identified during the site visit and the School continues to be in noncompliance with Standard 8 Requirement C, Programmatic Outcomes. The Council also approved the substantive change submitted by the School to disaffiliate with Sutter Health. 

Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery – At its October 2022 meeting, the Council granted preliminary approval of the substantive change request to change the location of the College until such time that CPME can conduct an on-site evaluation when the move has been completed. 

Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) School of Podiatric Medicine – At its October 2022 meeting, the Council granted candidacy status to the LECOM School of Podiatric Medicine. 

June 2022

Granted candidacy status to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) School of Podiatric Medicine (SOPM).

April 2022

Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science – At its April 2022 meeting, the Council elected, based on an on-site evaluation, to extend accreditation through April 2030.

Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine – At its April 2022 meeting, the Council approved the college’s substantive change requests to offer two courses asynchronously in the third year and to add a clinical biomechanics rotation to the third year.

October 2021

California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University (CSPM) - At its October 2021 meeting, the Accreditation Committee and Council reviewed and granted approval of the substantive change request for CSPM (as part of Samuel Merritt University) to disaffiliate with Sutter Health. CPME will conduct the required on-site visit to be held in conjunction with the June 2022 reaccreditation site visit as the substantive change will not become operational until early 2022.

April 2021

New York College of Podiatric Medicine - At its April 2021 meeting, the Council elected, based on an on-site evaluation, to extend accreditation through April 2026.

Concerning the substantive change request, the Accreditation Committee and Council reviewed and granted preliminary approval of the substantive change request until such time that CPME can conduct an on-site evaluation when the affiliation is operational.

October 2020

During the October 2020 meeting, the Council took no accreditation actions.

May 2020

New York College of Podiatric Medicine - At its May 2020 meeting, the Council elected to postpone the NYCPM site visit from June 8-11, 2020 to late fall 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As the accreditation term for NYCPM was set to expire in October 2020, the Accreditation Committee recommended and the Council voted to approve, extending the accreditation term to October 2021 due to the inability to conduct the site visit before the accreditation expiration date as a result of the pandemic.

Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine - The Council accepted and voted to approve the Accreditation Committee’s recommendation to increase the class size at Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine from 53 to 60 beginning fall 2020.

Midwestern University Arizona School of Podiatric Medicine - At its April 2019 meeting, the Council elected, based on an on-site evaluation, to extend accreditation through April 2027.

Midwestern University Arizona School of Podiatric Medicine - At its October 2017 meeting, the Council authorized an increase of 10 students for a total of 40 students in the School of Podiatric Medicine, effective with the 2018–2019 academic year.

Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine - At its April 2017 meeting, the Council elected, based on an on-site evaluation, to extend accreditation through April 2025.
