New Residency Documents and Training Dates

Residency Documents Adopted: CPME 320 and CPME 330

Following a call for comment period from the community of interest, CPME has adopted the revisions to CPME 320, Standards and Requirements for Approval of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residencies, and CPME 330, Procedures for Approval of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residencies, with the exception of Appendix C, Milestones, due to comments from the community of interest. The Council elected to defer making a decision related to Appendix C, Milestones. CPME will survey the community of interest related to the required use of Milestones in residency training and will revisit this issue at its April 2023 meeting.

The newly approved documents have an implementation date of July 1, 2023.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is there a registration deadline for the above trainings?
We kindly ask that evaluators register by Wednesday, December 21. Please reach out to jxu@cpme.org if you need additional time or have questions. Registration will remain open if someone needs to register late, but for planning purposes we ask that you register by December 21 if possible.

How will I receive reimbursement for attending a training workshop?
CPME will reimburse all evaluators, regardless of your board certification and role in the on-site evaluation process. To receive reimbursement, you will complete a CPME Expense Voucher and submit corresponding receipts to jxu@cpme.org. CPME will reimburse you via a check in the mail (or direct deposit) after confirming your attendance at one of the above workshops.

What will happen if I do not attend an in-person training on the new standards?
Unfortunately, you will not be eligible to participate in a Fall 2023 on-site evaluation. If you wish to continue serving as a residency evaluator, you will need to attend a training workshop.

Will additional trainings be offered later this year?
At this time, we do not have dates set for additional trainings. CREC will re-convene in summer of 2023 and determine further training opportunities later in 2023 or early in 2024. Details will be forthcoming.
