Continued Accreditation

Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine, Independence, OH

At its April 2017 meeting, the Council on Podiatric Medical Education granted continued accreditation of the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine through April 2025. Based on a recommendation of CPME’s Accreditation Committee, the Council identified three areas of noncompliance with CPME publication 120, Standards and Requirements for Accrediting Colleges of Podiatric Medicine

The requirements in CPME 120 with which the College was determined to be in noncompliance were 4E related to curriculum evaluation, 8A related to the assessment plan, and 8B related to competencies/student learning outcomes. This decision was based on review of the report of the team that conducted a comprehensive on-site evaluation of the College on August 22–25, 2016, and the College’s written response to the team report and presentation to the Accreditation Committee at its April 26 meeting.

The Council has requested that the College submit progress reports for:

  • CPME’s October 2017 Accreditation Committee meeting responding to the identified areas of noncompliance; and
  • CPME’s April 2018 Accreditation Committee meeting responding to recommendations identified in the team report.

On-site re-evaluation of the College will be conducted no later than the fall of 2024. CPME may change the re-evaluation date to an earlier time to evaluate new concerns or issues that come to light during the review of annual reports or special reports or to assess a request for approval of a substantive modification(s).
