CPME 120 and 130 Revisions

CPME Publications 120 and 130 (Accreditation Committee)

Every six years, the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME or Council) conducts a comprehensive review of its standards, requirements, and procedures related to its evaluation activities. As part of the document review process, CPME surveyed the community of interest to obtain the opinions of the podiatric community of interest regarding crucial elements of these college documents CPME 120, Standards and Requirements for Accrediting Colleges of Podiatric Medicine and CPME 130, Procedures for Accrediting Colleges of Podiatric MedicineThe survey was designed to provide baseline information for consideration during the revision process. The Call for Comment survey was disseminated in November 2024 and closed on January 15, 2025.

The review of these documents is led by an Ad Hoc Advisory Committee comprised of members representing organizations within the community of interest. The College Ad Hoc Committee held its first meeting on April 3, 2025, followed by a meeting on May 14, 2025, and June 12, 2025, where members reviewed input from communities of interest submitted via surveys and comment letters. At its meeting in July 2025, the Committee completed its revisions of CPME 120, Standards and Requirements for Accrediting Colleges of Podiatric Medicine; CPME 130, Procedures for Accrediting Colleges of Podiatric Medicine, and CPME 109, Eligibility Requirements. Upon final review of the revised documents, the Committee formally approved the draft documents in September, agreeing that they were ready for review by the Council at their October 2025 meeting. At its October 2025 meeting, the Council approved Draft I of CPME 120, 130, and 109 for dissemination and comment.

The revised documents are being finalized for release to the community of interest for the required 60-day comment period. Upon publication and dissemination, the community of interest is encouraged to share the revised documents broadly with all interested parties. Once the comment period closes, CPME will review the feedback received to determine next steps in adopting the revised documents.
